Detroit Lions Won’t Need A Big Step Forward To Show Marked Improvement

I would like to think I inspire my little brother. It appears I have today, at least as blogging is concerned, thanks to my earlier post about the significance of the Lions four game winning streak to end the 2010 season. That winning streak put the Lions in impressive company as one of only 12 teams to put together a streak of at least four wins at any point during the season. That got Matt’s brain turning and he went looking for other evidence to suggest the Lions ended 2010 better than their 6-10 record may have indicated.

Good news, he found that evidence and wrote about it on Detroit Jock City. Click the thumbnail to check it out and be sure to add DJC to your bookmarks while you’re there.

Judging by win-loss record, the Lions were just (tied for) the 20th best team in the NFL a season ago. And while that was good enough to begin to excite fans of the downtrodden franchise, it’s still a ways away from a playoff berth.

But by taking a look at some other numbers and statistics, it appears that the the Lions played a little bit better than the raw W-L percentage suggests.
