Is it OK for Detroit Lions fans to dream of a playoff appearance as soon as next year? I’d say so considering some players have no problems talking about it.
Wide Receiver Bryant Johnson made an appearance at Keion Carpenter’s youth football camp and told the National Football Post the following:
Our goal is to go to the playoffs. It was tough to start the season off with the Calvin Johnson touchdown being ruled not a catch. That took its toll on us for a couple of games. It’s all about how you finish. We finished with four straight wins, the first time in a long time for the organization. I definitely think we can take that momentum and be a lot further along than we were to start the season.
Realistic or not, the playoffs should always be a goal for any team. According to Paula Pasch of the Oakland Press, Ndamukong Suh took the playoff talk up a notch this morning:
Lions Ndamukong Suh to his campers this a.m.: ‘I’m saying right now we’re going to the playoffs.’
Is it too soon to start the playoff talk despite the four game winning streak to end the 2010 season?
