NFL, NFLPA Are in the Trust Tree


There has been a lot of talk about the issues involved in what has become a 100-day lockout but one of the most fundamental underlying problems has been a lack of trust between the ownership group and DeMaurice Smith. The late Gene Upshaw had the trust and respect of the owners in a way that Smith didn’t, and couldn’t, as a new face in the process. It isn’t surprising that the progress made over the last few weeks has come about as the two sides gain trust in one another.
