In San Francisco, he joined the other three 49er Hall-of-Famers-to-be in ’54. He was traded to the Detroit Lions before the 1957 season, then moved to Pittsburgh – where he had six of his most productive years – in 1960. He closed his career with Houston in 1966.


Detroit, meet your newest Lions fan: Mike Ditka.

The iconic former Chicago Bears player and coach recently praised the strength of the NFC North and the up-and-coming Lions. And yes, Ditka said, Calvin Johnson did make a legal catch in last year’s season opener at Chicago.



Former Michigan State Spartan and current Detroit Lions player T.J. Duckett, a supporter of Special Olympics, was on hand for the games.
