Scanning the Savanna

Scanning the Savanna is a daily feature that brings fresh Detroit Lions and NFL related content to your fingertips each morning. Grab a cup of coffee and let’s scan the savanna together.

I abhor the use of the old “Thunder and Lightning” cliché to describe two-back systems. However, that term aptly describes the dual-back attack to be deployed by Detroit in 2011.

Recently, Suh reflected back on last season and looked ahead to this year when he talked with Sporting News’ Dennis Dillon.

No one should feel that life has been particularly unfair to Caleb Campbell, who twice has had NFL aspirations pulled from under him — kind of like a magician yanking a tablecloth from beneath an expensive set of china or Lucy predictably moving the football as one of her pals takes a running start and approaches the kick — because the Detroit Lions’ linebacker certainly does not feel sorry for himself.
