SideLion Report readers will remember my 2011 Detroit Lions mock draft database, the 125 mock final version in particular. Don’t worry, I’m not about to start weekly database updates for 2012, even I think it is way too early for that.
I did, however, do a quick scan of some 2012 mock drafts that are featured on the DC Pro Sports Report’s database and created a table of their early picks for the Lions. Their projected 2012 draft position in the first round ranged from 11 to 22 which led to 11 different names among the 14 different sites that the DCPSR has listed. See the table below:
|NFLs Future||5/6||16||Alfonzo Denard||CB||Nebraska|
|NFL Mocks (Sayre)||5/5||16||Travis Lewis||LB||Oklahoma|
|Real Sports Hype||5/5||22||Nate Potter||OT||Boise State|
|Lost Letterman||5/5||13||Manti Te’o||LB||Notre Dame|
|Big Lead Sports||5/4||21||Chase Minnifield||CB||Virginia|
|CNNSI (Perloff)||5/4||12||Stephon Gilmore||CB||South Carolina|
|Fox Sports (Schrager)||5/4||20||Stephon Gilmore||CB||South Carolina|
|Walter Football||5/4||17||Vontaze Burfict||LB||Arizona State|
|NFL Rough Draft (Mike)||5/4||13||Jonathan Martin||OT||Stanford|
|NFL Rough Draft (Ray)||5/4||18||Mike Adams||OT||Ohio State|
|First Regime||5/3||20||Manti Te’o||LB||Notre Dame|
|Mock Draft Mania||5/2||15||Stephon Gilmore||CB||South Carolina|
|NE Patriots Draft||5/1||11||Riley Reiff||OT||Iowa|
Let me stop any of you that might be reaching for the comment box to let me know how ridiculous it is that I just broke down the Lions’ 2012 draft. That really isn’t my point. My point is to document this moment in time so that we can look back eleven months from now to see how correct/crazy the above list turns out to be.
Thanks for reading but it is time to put the lid on this post, put it in the ground and cover it with some dirt.
