Detroit Lions Select Doug Hogue with the 157th Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft

The Lions have just used a fifth round pick to address one of their biggest needs:

Who: Doug Hogue
What: Outside Linebacker
Where: Syracuse
When: Round 5, Pick 26 (157 overall)
Why: A case can be made that outside linebacker was the Lions’ greatest area of need heading into the draft. Hogue is a former running back so he is athletic but lacks some experience. This looks to a be a good pick that gives the coaching staff some raw materials to work with.

This guy is balanced, he’s good in pass coverage too.

It’s usually these raw guys that end up being a gem late in the draft, you just gotta hope this guy could be one.
