I love the pick, though I would have been equally as happy with Dae-Quan Bowers or Prince Amukamara. I just think you can’t pass on a guy at 13 who had been projected to go #1 overall before the combine, as long as it’s not a QB. Let’s see if we can fill needs today, but it feels great to be in a position of having an awesome… anything!

They can’t double team them both(him and Suh). Teams might have to drop tight ends in protection sometimes and backs more often too.

Spot on, Dale. NFL teams won’t be able to play seven offensive lineman, although they’ll probably need to.

Absolutely love this pick. Anybody who watched the National Championship game in January saw that Fairley was clearly the most dominant force on the field. Much like Suh manhandled Colt McCoy and the Longhorns in the Big 12 Championship one year earlier, Fairley was regularly in the backfield before McCoy could hand off the ball or complete play-action. Back to back Lombardi Trophy winners is unprecented in NFL draft history. The Lions hit this one out of the park!!!

The Lions clearly loved that Fairley dominated in the biggest games last year, just as you mentioned. He got the better of top talent in a way that wasn’t seen from alternatives like Prince Amukamara.
