Detroit Lions Select Mikel Leshoure with the 57th Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft

After moving up into a pick originally held by the Seattle Seahawks, the Detroit Lions have made their third selection of the 2011 NFL draft:

Who: Mikel Leshoure
What: Running Back
Where: Illinois
When: Round 2, Pick 25 (57th Overall)
Why: Good mix of need and value. The Lions were known to be in the market for a bigger back to pair with Jahvid Best and they got a guy many regarded as the second best running back in this draft. This may look like an odd choice given the Lions’ other needs but could be seen as a steal in the near future.

The move cost the Lions their 3rd and 4th round picks, and they will swap picks with the Seahawks in the 5th and 7th rounds.
