Detroit Lions NFL Draft Countdown: 8 Days

Join us each day as we count down towards the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. The countdown runs from 50 to zero and the number of days remaining will inspire the post for that day. Think of this as your NFL draft paper chain that loses one link each day!

We’re down to 8 days remaining until the NFL draft. The newly released 2011 schedule tells us 8 is the number of regular season games the Lions will play before reaching their bye week. Add on four preseason games (assuming no labor interruptions) and the rookie class may be starting to hit a wall before they get a week of rest. The pre-bye schedule including preseason games essentially represents a full college season. I can only imagine what the rookie Lions (and their bodies) will think about facing another 8 games after the bye.

Players drafted number 8 overall by the Detroit Lions:
Sid Wagner (1936), Bill Dellastatious (1946), Ed O’Neil (1974)
