Leak Says Detroit Lions Will Host Bears on Monday Night Football

The NFL schedule won’t officially be released until 7 p.m. but Mike O’Hara of Fox Sports Detroit is reporting that source has revealed the Lions will host the Chicago Bears for Monday Night Football on October 10, 2011. According to O’Hara:

The Lions are slated to host the Chicago Bears at Ford Field on Oct. 10, according to NFL sources who have been briefed on the schedule and have told FOX Sports Detroit.

I speculated on a potential primetime game earlier today and figured a divisional rival could be a likely opponent. I thought the Lions might get a primetime road game against the Packers or Bears, so the location of the game is a pleasant surprise.

The game will be a week five matchup, could the Lions bye week fall in week six or will they have a short week to prepare for their next opponent? We’ll know when the full schedule is released later tonight.

What’s it been, 10 years since a prime time game? Pretty cool.
