The Dallas Cowboys have the 9th pick in the upcoming draft and whoever they pick will have an effect on the Lions. Many mock drafts either have the Cowboys selecting OT Tyron Smith or CB Prince Amukamara. Those two are also the most popular selections for the Lions in the first round in mock drafts. It looks like whoever the ‘Boys get, the Lions will pick the other.
According to many, the biggest need for the Cowboys is Offensive Tackle. Tyron Smith is regarded by most to be the best tackle in this year’s draft. Tyron Smith has the talent to walk in and play for the Cowboys right away (if there is a training camp). It sounds like it should be an easy selection for them to pick Smith at the 9th spot but that isn’t true. It is going to be difficult for Jerry Jones and company to pass on Prince Amukamara. Cornerback isn’t a huge need for the ‘Boys but Amukamara’s talent is worthy of the a top ten pick.
If the Lions pick either one of the two players, I will be extremely satisfied. These two have the ability to make a big difference for the Lions this year. However if I had a choice, I would would rather have Amukamara. If Smith got taken, there still are other good tackles that should be available in the 2nd round (Castonzo, Carimi, Solder). Besides Amukamara there isn’t alot of options at cornerback. Brandon Harris from Miami and Jimmy Smith, who has decent talent but an awful attitude, seem like the only other options at the position.
