Detroit Lions: Looking on in bewilderment as Lions’ wide receiver Calvin Johnson(notes) seemingly caught a game-winning touchdown against the Chicago Bears that eventually was ruled incomplete due to Johnson’s putting the ball on the ground to push himself up after making the catch.
One of the NFL’s all-time leading rushers, Barry Sanders, will be the Sports Marshal at this year’s Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, festival president Tom Scully announced Friday.
Among the NFL teams attending the workout: the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints, St. Louis Rams, San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings.
“The fact is, everybody in the league knows (whom we’re bringing in),” coach Jim Schwartz said during the NFL meetings last week. “So if everybody in the league knows, it really doesn’t matter. And if it’s interesting for the fans, … then I’m all for it.”
