Detroit Lions NFL Draft Countdown: 30 Days

Join us each day as we count down towards the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. The countdown runs from 50 to zero and the number of days remaining will inspire the post for that day. Think of this as your NFL draft paper chain that loses one link each day!

Players drafted number 30 overall by the Detroit Lions:
Augie Lio (1941), Dorm Sanzotta (1942), George Betteridge (1944), Ron Koes (1959), Gerry Philbin (1964), Dave Thompson (1971), John Ford (1989), Kevin Jones (2004), Jahvid Best (2010)

It took a draft day trade with the Minnesota Vikings up to pick 30 to ensure Jahvid Best ended up with the Lions. The Lions moved up four spots by swapping second and fourth round picks with the Vikings and sending them their seventh round pick.

30th overall: Jahvid Best, RB, Cal
128th overall: Jason Fox, OT, Miami (FL)

34th overall: Chris Cook, CB, Virginia
100th overall: Everson Griffen, DE, USC
214th overall: Mickey Schuler, TE, Penn State

Did the Lions get the better end of the deal? They certainly did from a character standpoint as Cook and Griffen have both been arrested this off-season. The development of Jason Fox may be what tips the definitive advantage of this trade in one direction or another.

Which team got the better end of 2010's draft day deal?
