Detroit Lions Will Not Receive Compensatory Picks in Upcoming Draft

The Lions weren’t expecting to be awarded with any compensatory selections in next month’s draft. It’s a good thing they weren’t because it is no official that they will not be receiving any.

Beat writer Tom Kowalski shared the news on twitter:

Lions don’t get a compensatory pick — and that was expected news to GM Martin Mayhew … As of now, Lions have just five picks in the draft

The Lions will have picks in the first five rounds, although their fifth round pick will be in the Chiefs’ slot due to the previous ruling that the Lions tampered with Kansas City players under contract. The Lions’ seventh round draft choice was also surrendered as punishment. The Lions have appealed the ruling but no decision has been made.
