The Detroit Lions might be squeezed more than most NFL teams if there is a lengthy work stoppage, according to a report on Forbes’ Web site.
Most notably, multiple media outlets are reporting the Detroit Lions decided against offering a tender contract to running back Kevin Smith, who has accrued three NFL seasons and thus would be a restricted free agent under any circumstances. It’s possible the Lions could re-sign Smith at a later date, but that seems unlikely.
A former Detroit Lions wide receiver who pleaded guilty to a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge on accusations involving a then-14-year-old girl has been sentenced to spend two to 15 years in prison.
Not only have they signed tight end Owen Daniels and running back Derrick Ward to extensions, they have now signed defensive tackle Shaun Cody to a two-year, $5.75 million contract.
