Detroit Misses Most Miserable Sports Cities List, Despite Lions Efforts

Which sports city is the most miserable? While Detroit may be one of the most miserable NFL cities, it did not make the Forbes list of the top ten most miserable sports cities.

Seattle takes the “honors” as the most miserable sports city in the country followed by Atlanta, Phoenix, Buffalo and San Diego to round out the top five.

I can understand Seattle but how is Atlanta second? The Braves dominated the NL in the 1990s and early 2000s. The Falcons have been solid over the past several years. The Hawks have been experiencing success over the last 3 years. I guess the only “miserable” team is the Thrashers although they have some good players and a future star (Evander Kane).

The list takes a broader view than just the last few years. As far as the Braves go, they won 14 straight division titles but have just one World Series title to show for it — that has a big impact based on the method Forbes defined for determining miserableness (is that a word?).
