For the previous two years, the Detroit Lions knew they were going to get one of the top two players in each draft. They took Matthew Stafford with the first overall pick in 2009 and they selected Ndamukong Suh with the second overall choice last year.
With the 13th pick in April’s draft, the Detroit Lions are a bit of a wild card.
They need outside linebackers and defensive backs, but don’t count out the possibility they will draft an offensive lineman with their first-round pick.
I don’t claim to know who the Lions’ scouting department has at the top of their board, but here are 11 players I’ll be scouting very closely over the next few days, with a short explanation of what I’ll be watching and where I see them in the Lions’ plans.
