ESPN’s draft expert, Todd McShay still has the Lions selecting OL Nate Solder from Colorado. However, recently a lot of other mock drafts have projected the Lions to select Brandon Harris, cornerback from the University of Miami. Brandon Harris is widely considered as the third best conerback in the draft behind Patrick Peterson (LSU) and Price Amukamara (Nebraska).
Harris is 5’11 and weighs in at 195 pounds. He has average size and better speed. In his sophomore season, Harris 39 solo tackles, 55 total tackles, and 2 interceptions. Last year, he collected 44 total tackles and 29 of them were on his own. People say his stats don’t tell the real story as teams rarely threw his way. Harris rarely intercepts the ball but is very good at getting his hand up and breaking up the ball. He led the ACC in passes defended per contest his sophomore year and was ranked second nationally with 15 break ups. He is also known for being solid on run support. He does well and getting of receiver blocks and tracking down the ball carrier. Also, Harris is a great leader. He is very coachable and will work as hard as he can.
There are some things that people want Harris to improve in. Harris excells in man coverage but can improve in zone coverage. Others want Harris to intercept more passes. In his career at Miami, he only had 4 interceptions.
