Six Detroit Lions Miss Wednesday’s Practice

The first injury report of the week comes out each Wednesday. Just as it has been for most of the recent weeks, the Lions’ list is quite a bit longer than their opponent’s. Gosder Cherilus was one of six Lions that did not practice today and speculation quickly mounted that he could end up on injured reserve before the day was done. Sure enough, the Lions ended his season later in the afternoon.

Cliff Avril missed practice due to the rib injury that cost him about half of the Packers game. Landon Johnson was carted off the field last Sunday and missed practice today because of the neck injury although he may defy the odds and be able to play next weekend against the Bucs. Vinny Ciurciu sat out with a concussion and Chris Houston missed due to illness. Matthew Stafford is still sidelined with his shoulder injury.

Shaun Hill was marked down as a limited participant. He did some light throwing early in the day and word came that he started throwing more aggressively in the portion of practice that was not open to the media. Drew Stanton took the first team reps but the coaching staff would not comment on who will get the start on Sunday.

Jahvid Best, Turk McBride and Maurice Morris were also slowed during practice. DeAndre Levy is still listed with a groin injury but practiced without limitations today.
