Detroit Lions Injury Situation Goes Beyond Quarterback Position

While much of the Detroit Lions injury situation was focused around the quarterback position, two other Lions missed practice today. Jason Hanson (right knee) and Kyle Vanden Bosch (neck) joined Matthew Stafford and Shaun Hill on the did not practice portion of the injury report.

Jahvid Best was able to undergo a limited practice today. It remains to be seen what good the long week will do for his turf toes but hitting the practice field this early in the week is a pretty good sign. Nate Burleson (hamstring), DeAndre Levy (groin) and Tony Scheffler (ribs) joined Best as limited participants.

Cliff Avril (quadricep), Gosder Cherilus (knee) and Corey Williams (knee/groin) fully practiced but were named on the injury report.

The Chicago Bears have just two names on their injury report. Linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa missed practice with a knee injury and wide reciever Rashied Davis practiced on a limited basis due to a bum shoulder.

    Zac,
Do you think the possibility of Vanden Bosch being out is a huge problem against the Bears? I think the pressure the “D” line applies to Cutler is key to this week.

Early this week (prior to the Hill news) I was set on a really good Lions showing but with Stanton in I am growing skeptical. I still think they can win but that defense has to be all over Cutler. We have seen what happens when he is off.

Pressure certainly would help ensure we see the interception-prone Cutler rather than whoever that was that played so well against the Eagles. Fortunately the Lions are quite deep along the defensive front.
