The big news out of Detroit Lions practice yesterday was that eight starters were held out. Today, three of them returned to the field.
Calvin Johnson and Tony Scheffler returned on the offensive side while Corey Williams returned to the defense. Special teamer and reserve linebacker Bobby Carpenter also returned to the field after missing yesterday’s practice. All four returned in a limited capacity.
Cliff Avril, Jahvid Best, Jason Hanson, Kevin Smith, and Matthew Stafford remained out. It remains to be seen whether or not Avril will play on Sunday. Best will while Hanson, Smith, and Stafford will not.
Isaiah Ekejiuba practiced with limitations for a second consecutive day while Chris Houston and Alphonso Smith were able to fully practice after being limited yesterday.
Turk McBride has practiced restriction-free all week but is listed on the injury report with an ankle ailment. Jason Fox was not listed yesterday but missed practice today due to illness.
