Scanning the Savanna

This daily feature has taken a couple different names over the last few months but I think I’ve finally settled on “Scanning the Savanna”. The name may have changed but the purpose remains the same: to save you time by collecting suggested daily Lions related articles into one convenient place.

The Detroit Lions are the only team to finish 0-16 in a 16-game regular season, having done that two years ago, and the Buffalo Bills are halfway to matching them. But they have gotten as close as you can get to winning without doing so in their last three games, falling twice in overtime and last week by three points to the Chicago Bears.

Kid Rock fans have a reason to be thankful this year, as Rock — who releases his new album, “Born Free,” on Tuesday — will perform his new album’s title track at halftime of the Detroit Lions game on Thanksgiving Day.

Detroit Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson and Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey have mutual admiration.

Gailey, who recruited and coached Johnson at Georgia Tech, says he had no doubt the 6-foot-5 wideout would become an NFL star.
