“I addressed all of this on Monday and nothing has changed since Monday,” Schwartz said. “I said we’ll get him back as soon as we can. And any other speculation, any other rumor or anything else to do with Matt is irresponsible. Nothing’s changed since Monday, and I’m going to leave it right there.”
In other words – Hey, Coach – great job in getting the team ready and keeping all of these games so close. But Coach, what the heck are you doing to blow all these opportunities that you created? Monday through Saturday, he deserves an A for getting these guys prepared. On Sunday, the grade is more like a C or a D.
Many predicted Pettigrew could be a target for the Bills at 28. Strong, athletic, fast, and labeled a “complete tight end” coming out of Oklahoma State, the Bills could have filled a rather large hole at the position. Instead, Detroit plucked Pettigrew and the Bills settled for Shawn Nelson in the fourth round.
