Detroit Lions Game to be Broadcast by Native Son Gus Johnson

The Lions will play on CBS for the first time this season on Sunday when they host the New York Jets. Since the Lions-Jets matchup is not one of the marquee games of the week, CBS is sending its number five broadcast team to Detroit. While this might not sounds like anything to be happy about, it actually is. It just so happens that CBS’s fifth broadcast team is headlined by play-by-play man Gus Johnson, a native Detroiter.

Johnson brings an exciting energy to his broadcasts that has made him a fan favorite, especially when he is working college basketball during March madness. To get a sampling of Gus Johnson’s fine work I suggest checking out the Gus Johnson soundboard, click the thumbnail below and have some fun:

Joining Gus Johnson in the booth will be former Buffalo Bills special teams ace Steve Tasker.
