The Lions have built their franchise around the arm of one Matthew Stafford — a fearless, cocky, smart, gun-slinging 22-year-old quarterback whose favorite day of the week is Sunday.

Multiple TV blackouts could be coming for the NFL this weekend.

Both the Detroit Lions (with about 10,000 tickets remaining) and the San Diego Chargers (about 11,000 tickets remaining as of Tuesday) had significant obstacles to overcome to lift an NFL-imposed TV blackout by Thursday’s deadline.

When Detroit Lions Coach Jim Schwartz served as the Tennessee Titans’ defensive coordinator, he designed a 4-3 scheme to feature the talents of a young three-technique tackle named Albert Haynesworth.

The return of Matthew Stafford is a catch-22 for Detroit. The Lions are not a threat to make the playoffs no matter who plays quarterback, but Stafford is more likely to produce wins and hurt Detroit’s draft positioning.
