The Morning Fix

The league all but announced the change Tuesday at its fall league meeting in Chicago when competition committee co-chairman Rick McKay acknowledged the rule might’ve gone “too far” in interpreting that Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson didn’t control the ball all the way to the ground in the season opener against the Chicago Bears.

The New York Giants have 17 sacks in their three wins, and two in their two losses. Getting to the quarterback is about as important to their survival as oxygen.

The 1-4 Lions certainly have their issues, but they’ve scored more points than any other team in the NFC and, defensively, they’re tied for the NFL lead in takeaways with 14 and their 14 sacks ranks them sixth in the NFL.
