Injuries Continue Their Assault on Lions Offense

The Lions made official what we already knew: Matthew Stafford will miss Sunday’s game in Minneapolis and Shaun Hill will make his second start of the season. Today’s expected news was accompanied by some additional bad news as the injury bug makes its way through the Lions’ offense.

Nate Burleson did not practice Wednesday after suffering what is believed to be a high ankle sprain. It is hard to know if that diagnosis is correct because of the Lions’ secretive approach to injuries but if true could cost Burleson a couple weeks of action.

Guard Stephen Peterman also did not practice for an undisclosed reason. Dylan Gandy took Peterman’s place in practice.

The injury news is much better on the defensive side of the ball. Middle linebacker DeAndre Levy is back at practice and appears on schedule to play against the Vikings. Levy’s return would be a big boost to a position that suffers from a lack of depth. Zack Follett missed practice as he deals with the effects of a concussion he suffered against the Eagles. Louis Delmas also did not practice although that appears to be a result of a plan to deal with his groin injury.
