Since this will be my first regular season as the SideLion Report lead blogger I wanted to put up a quick post to let you all know what you can expect at SLR this season in addition to the normal news, notes, previews and recaps.
First, frequent readers have probably already noticed a few regular features that have made their debut in the last couple weeks. The Morning Fix is posted each day to give Lions junkies a quick shot of suggested Lions and NFL related reading. I post a thumbnail and a quote, you bring the coffee. The other new feature is Tailgate Tuesday, a suggested recipe (with pictures, yum!) perfectly themed for that week’s tailgate. If you’re not skilled in the kitchen then you better find someone that is because the food is going to be awesome!
Second, a weekly fantasy football feature will be posted following each week of play to recap the Lions’ fantasy performance and preview their next game from a fantasy football perspective. A large part of this weekly post will focus on the traditional fantasy football experience most readers are familiar with but we will also get into the implications for AthleteXchange, the fantasy sports stock market. Check out my AX preview here.
Third, I intend on holding live blogs during all Lions games this year to provide an opportunity to spout off, good or bad, about the game. I will invite a panelist from the opposition each week to make sure we have the whole picture of what is taking place. Games are played between two sides, might as well replicate that in our live blog. The chat window can be found using the Live Blog tab near the top of the page and will be posted all week to take advantage of the email reminder feature. The live blog worked really well during the preseason game with the Denver Broncos, thanks to everyone that participated and we hope you will join us again!
