Jordon Dizon got the start at middle linebacker last night in place of the injured DeAndre Levy but he may now see the field again for the rest of the year.
Tom Kowalski has reported that Jim Schwartz referred to the injury as “serious” and Dizon was telling people that he would be out for the year.
Pro Football Talk is reporting that the full extent of the injury won’t be known until the swelling subsides:
A league source tells PFT that Dizon will take an MRI to examine his knee injury, once swelling goes down. (The significant swelling is not a great sign, of course.) The fear is that Dizon suffered a torn ACL and MCL, but we won’t know for sure until the MRI is taken. A torn MCL alone wouldn’t end Dizon’s season.
Regardless of whether or not the injury ultimately costs Dizon the entire season, this is a blow to the Lions depth at a position they can’t afford to lose anybody.
