The words “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” ring loud every Independence Day. A long weekend, good food, family, friends, and fireworks make for quite a celebration. The holiday also means that NFL training camp and a new season is not far off.
A Detroit Lions season is often a cruel reminder that our unalienable rights guarantee our pursuit of happiness, not happiness itself.
Ah yes, the pursuit. Some Lions fans pursue NFL happiness by lowering their expectations to a such a low level that meeting or exceeding those expectations is a virtual certainty. Others may have adopted a second team to cheer on (cough:colts:cough) to feel the excitement of a winning season and championship run.
What about you? What does your pursuit of NFL happiness look like?
