SideLionReport Podcast: Detroit Lions Beat The Cleveland Browns and an Interview With Dan From WaitingForNextYear.com, a Browns / NFL Fansite

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: sidelionreport podcast | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Lions fans, who understands you?
Browns fans. Really. They get it. They know how to appreciate a comedy of errors. Again and again and again.
I interview Eagles guys… Steelers guys… Panthers guys… They just don’t understand. They don’t know what it’s like to constantly snatch defeat from the clutches of victory. WE DO! Kindred brethren we are. It turned into a pretty good podcast so let’s get to the point!

Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns; Last Minute Antics Leave The Lions Winners Of The Terri-Bowl

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I stand by last minute antics.
Sadly, I had to listen to it on the radio. All my usual online traps were not streaming this game and even now at 1am mon. morning I can’t find the game to stream on NFL.com
very frustrating. Kinda wish I’d gone to the game. Nice finish.
The Browns suck. Lets just get that out there. They are terrible. and we gave them a lot of points.
We suck too. But it’s okay, we won! HOLY FRIGGIN’ HELL WE WON!
This was very necessary, we needed to not draft top 3-4
Oakland winning complicates this however… a LOT actually.
That said, [...]

Sunday Spoiler: Browns vs. Lions results

AUTHOR: Jay Schmidt | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

My how these franchises have fallen. Once mighty football superpowers in the 1950s, the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns have been suffering ever since JFK became President. With both teams sporting inept rosters and 1-8 records, there isn’t much to look forward too in Sunday’s contest. If you feel like skipping the Sunday affair, I don’t blame you. I’ll fill you in on the details that will transpire.
FIRST QUARTER
On the Lions first posession, quarterback Matthew Stafford hooks up with Calvin Johnson on a beautiful 60-yard touchdown strike. Its nullified due to a Jeff Backus holding penalty. Several Lions fans have [...]

SideLionReport Podcast; Coming of a Minnesota Vikings Whoopin’ and Looking To The Cleveland Browns

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: sidelionreport podcast | COMMENTS: None Yet

There just wasn’t much to talk about this week.
The most compelling report was the injury report… There were a lot of them.

SideLionReport Podcast On FanSided.com
That said, beating Cleveland is our only hope to keep out of drafting top three. We need this win. BAD. We can’t afford another bloated contract for an unproven rookie. We need the Browns, the Buccs and the Rams picking ahead of us.
The other thing that has caught my interest this week is the Bears loss to the 49ers. With the Vikings exceedingly far ahead in the NFC North and the wild card competition fierce, the [...]

Silverdome sale price disappoints

Pontiac officials wanted more than $583K for stadium

MIKE MARTINDALE
The Detroit News
Pontiac — Nearly 35 years after taxpayers spent $55.7 million building the Pontiac Silverdome and a year after a $20 million sale fell through, city officials have sold the arena once called the most desirable property in Oakland County.
The price: $583,000.
“This was a giveaway,” said David J. Leitch, a broker with an Auburn Hills based realty firm.
“The property alone, at $10,000 an acre, should have gone for more than that. And you have the Silverdome, its contents, and the infrastructure already in place. I [...]

Lions Limp Away, Lose Players and the Game to Minnesota

AUTHOR: Jay Schmidt | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

An infirmary should’ve been set up on the Lions sideline in their 27-10 drubbing at the horns of the Vikings. The physicality enforced by Minnesota tore through player after player for Detroit.
It started before kickoff when Louis Delmas’ tooth infection kept him on the bench for the entire afternoon. That was a serious setback as Marquand Manuel had to fill in at safety and the combo of Manuel – Ko Simpson were very much responsible for Vikings receiver Sidney Rice going virtually undetected for 201 yards total in the contest. An endless array of injuries throughout the game left the [...]

After a Bizarro World 1st Quarter, Reality Cross Checks Us Into the Boards as The Seattle Seahawks Dismantle A Detroit Lions Early Lead to Win 32 – 20

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Fist Quarter was absolute bizarro world. The Lions came prepared and played viciously fierce, turning a bounced field goal into a Delmas pick on Defense and a one handed Bryant Johnson touchdown catch. Was this my team? Was this real? Here we are on the road in the West Coast, a place where we never win, and we come out of the gate strong, handing Seattle their ass on a platter.
Ahhhh… Reality.
Sobering and bitter to the taste.
Matt Stafford went from Joe Montana to Joe Harrington from the 2nd quarter on. 5 picks. Yikes! Calvin Johnson made it to the [...]

Detroit Lions Are Going To Seattle To Face The Seahawks… Should I Bother Making a Prediction?

AUTHOR: Kevin Ferguson | IN: Lions | COMMENTS: None Yet

We’ll get to see Curry in action, that will prove interesting to say the least.
I can’t say much about the Seahawks, I haven’t watched them play yet. I know they just cut ‘edge; We kind of knew he was spent though, didn’t we?
If I’m not mistaken, the track record for the Detroit Lions on the west coast is slightly worse than abysmal, something like they’ve won twice in 20 some years. One was against the Raiders… the other one I think Barry was still on the team.
So odds are they aren’t going to win. Not just because [...]
