It's Just Sports: How Jason Hanson Was Snubbed; IR Report

Statistically speaking, Hanson should be in.

Not many would take up the argument that a player on an 0-14 team deserves to go to the Pro Bowl, but I am not sure there is a kicker in the league better than Jason Hanson right now. It’s a shame that the losses have overshadowed what could be the most dominant season by a kicker in NFL history.

For The TL;DR crowd, Pat’s breaking down Jasons stats vs. the Giants kicker Carney. Check it out, its a quick read and you will feel as screwed like our awesome kicker, Jason Hanson.

Sorry the team can’t do anything for your Mr. Hanson, we all gave it the ol’ college try. First Alternate is something, right?

In other news, 3 players have been added to the IR list:

The Lions placed three more players on injured reserve Tuesday, adding to an already long list of key contributors whose seasons are over.

Safety Dwight Smith, who fractured his left ankle in Sunday’s loss at Indianapolis, was joined by receiver Shaun McDonald (ankle) and cornerback Keith Smith (groin) in Tuesday’s roster moves. In all, that’s nine regulars from the Lions’ lineup on IR this season.

To replace those three, the Lions signed safety LaMarcus Hicks and cornerback Chris Roberson (Eastern Michigan) from their practice squad, as well as free agent receiver Travis Taylor. The Lions also signed defensive back Dowayne Davis and cornerback Jeff Shoate to the practice squad.

So the Revolving door keeps spinning around.
