Dan Orlovsky signs, making the Matt Ryan rumors even more ludicrous

The Lions announced the signing of three backups today.
Signed were offensive guard Stephen Peterman and defensive tackle Langston Moore. I’m sure your reaction was the same as mine, “Big damn deal.”
Peterman is a depth for the O-line, a guy who won’t hurt you too much if he needs to be inserted in place of an [...]

Lions tales: Peter King is loony, Harvey is the pick and more Roy Williams trade rumors

1. Today I learned Sport Illustrated’s NFL guru, Peter King, is batshit crazy. What makes me think King is off his rocker? This…
If Ryan is sitting there at six or seven, I expect Detroit, Carolina and Chicago to inquire about trading up.
Making a move to get Ryan, who is far from a sure thing, would [...]

I make my pick in Fan-Sided’s mock draft, hate myself afterwards…

Here’s the situation, folks. I was taking part in Fan-Sided Blogs’ mock draft. The Lions are on the clock, and here’s how the draft had gone down to that point.
1. Miami - DE Chris Long, Virgina
2. St. Louis - OT Jake Long, Michigan
3. Atlanta - DT Glenn Dorsey, LSU
4. Oakland - DE Vernon Gholston, Ohio [...]

In case anyone cares, there’s been a change in the Lions’ exhibition schedule

The NFL announced today the Detroit Lions will not be losing to the Indianapolis Colts in the coming exhibition season, as previously scheduled. The Lions will instead be losing to the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants.
The New York Giants will now visit the Detroit Lions on Thursday, August 7, and the Carolina Panthers [...]

Lions tales: Super Bowl odds, advice for Rivers and Roy Williams wants to get paid

A few thoughts regarding Detroit Lions news bites from the past few days…
1. Online sports book BetUS has set their odds as to who will win next season’s Super Bowl. Just what are the odds for the Detroit Lions? They are given a “It’ll be a snowy day in Hell” shot, going off at the [...]

You’re going to have “dead money” under the salary cap when your GM is brain dead

The Lions have over $15 million in salary cap “dead money” being paid to 13 former players. When asked about this, all Matt Millen could say was, “Whoops!”
Actually, everything above is true, save for the Millen quote. Though it wouldn’t surprise if the porn ’stached goon did say as much.
According to Mlive’s Killer Kowalski, the [...]

Emmitt Smith on Barry Sanders’ retirement: He had enough of the Lions’ ineptitude

Barry Sanders is my favorite Detroit Lion of all time, as he may be for most of you. For many seasons, he was literally the only reason to watch Lions football. Sanders made those many under .500 seasons tolerable.
As good as he was, I’ll admit Sanders wasn’t the greatest all around football player. Off the [...]
