Rogers is now going to…Cleveland?

Posted by: Zach

Officially scratch the Bengals deal. Pro Football Talk and the Detroit Free Press are reporting Shaun Rogers will be traded to the Cleveland Browns for cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third round draft choice. As for why the original deal fell through, all I’m finding is the league didn’t approve it.

As cornerback is a massive black hole talentwise on the Lions’ roster, I can see why they made this deal. The 26 year old Bodden started all 16 games for the Browns in 2007, with 6 picks and 88 tackles. He automatically becomes the Lions’ best corner.

I don’t know how it happened, likely by accident, but Millen somehow pulled off a respectable trade. This is a MUCH better overall deal for the Lions. Instead of having to roll the dice in the draft, where the porn ’stached goon normally rolls snake eyes, Millen traded for a ready made starter at a position of need. The 3rd round pick is just gravy.

So, as the saying goes, even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut…Or in this case, a cornerback.

I was ready to accept the terms of the Bengals trade, once I saw that the Jets gave up a third and a fifth for Kris Jenkins (who’s better than Shaun Rogers).  But as you said, Big Al, this appears to be a better deal.  I like getting a NFL player in return, at least.
